Used to express that constantly maintaining an action or state will naturally lead to a certain result or realization.

Summary

Equivalent

If you keep doing... then eventually...

Also: -다(가) 보면

Example

If you keep practicing the piano, you'll be able to play well someday.

피아노를 계속 연습하노라면 언젠가는 잘 칠 수 있을 거예요.

Grammar rules

  • It implies 'If you keep [X]ing over time, [Y] will naturally happen.' It gives a somewhat poetic or old-fashioned feel compared to its modern equivalent '-다(가) 보면'.
  • Only attaches to verbs.
  • It is not commonly used in everyday conversation; '-다(가) 보면' is usually preferred. '-노라면' sounds more literary or reflective.

책을 읽노라면 시간 가는 줄 모른다. (If I keep reading a book, I lose track of time.) -> 책을 읽다가 보면... (More common)
