Location particle for actions. Indicates the location where an action takes place (at/in/from).

Formation

Noun + 에서. 도서관 + 에서 → 도서관에서. 한국 + 에서 → 한국에서. Used with action verbs: 도서관에서 공부해요 (study at library), 집에서 먹어요 (eat at home). Can mean "from": 한국에서 왔어요 (came from Korea).

Origin/starting point

Usage

Used to express the location where an action takes place, or the starting point/origin. 에서 is used with all nouns. Different from 에 (static location) - 에서 is for location of action. Can also mean "from" when used with verbs like 오다, 가다.
